TARGET AUDIENCE
The target audience for our thriller is males and females aged 15- 20, with 80% of the people we surveyed being within this age group. Thrillers appeal to both male and female audiences and a variety of social classes conventionally through the use of relatable characters and themes throughout the film. The target audience would also be interested in modern life and technologies; this is linked to thrillers film genre, which is conventionally influenced by real life events. A key point of thrillers that interests our target audience is the use of suspense and tension. This can be specifically seen with psychological thrillers, which uses constant twists in plot to keep the audience on the edge of their seats. Overall, thrillers appeal to a wide- audience and the large variety of sub- genres means that the thriller genre can easily relate to a range of audiences.
A key appeal for the audience of thrillers is a character, which they can relate to and build a raptor with as the narrative continues. A key element within thrillers is the theme of disguise, which creates mystery within the film. The disguise is conventionally used on the antagonist characters so that the audience is unaware of what the character is like. This can be found in thrillers such as Scream, Purge and The black Swan which all use disguise to create suspense within the film.

The opening scene of our thriller will feature teenage girls getting ready for a party. This will appeal to a younger audience (between around 15 and 21 years) as they are more likely to be able to relate to the situation. The beginning will be more appealing to a female audience because it features typically feminine props like make-up and hair products, but as the scene develops and the main character experiences visions, the audience will be more intrigued as to what is happening so will appeal to audiences of both genders. Our thriller will also feature pop music, which is enjoyable for everyone, but is more likely to be known by a younger audience (teens and young adults).
