Our task as a group is to make a 2 minute opening to a thriller film. This also includes doing pre- production research, pre-production planning and an evaluation of all our work which will gradually lead to the final production of the films finishing. We do all of this research to create a deeper meaning of thriller films and techniques to enhance our knowledge so that we can grab the audience’s attention and lure them in to the film making them want to know more and what’s going to happen next like many thriller directors successfully accomplish

The title in our film is Neurotic perceptions and we chose to present it in this way as it potrays (the black and white swirl) someone crazy or someone that has visions. The font is bold, bright and red but yet theres blood splashed and cracked.

We started off with just looking at different ways to describe crazy visions, and we came up with the title ‘Neurotic Perceptions’ by playing around with words and putting them together to decide what sounds better, and sound more like a title for a Thriller film. We chose to use this as our title because it fits in and describes our two-minute opening sequence of our thriller very well. The word ‘Neurotic’ can refer to someone who shows signs of mental disturbance and is unstable, this perfectly describes that way that the main character feels. We also decided to choose the word ‘Perceptions’ because it means the way that something is thought about or understood. We thought that putting these two words together as our title would describe our opening sequence very well and give the audience many different ideas of what it could be about; also it would catch the audiences attentions by creating curiosity in their minds leading them to wanting to watch it. Another reason as to why we chose to use ‘Neurotic Perceptions’ as our title is because it explains the visions that the main character gets, as the ones that’s she sees are crazy and a bit confusing, so it leaves her emotionally unstable, and quite scared, not knowing what to do, and if she can change anything. However, she tries to hide her feelings because she is left confused and trying to figure out whether it will happen in reality or it’s just her mind playing games on her.

Our logo was made using Photoshop with a Wacom drawing tablet. The tablet allowed me to create and draw our logo in full detail as it is similar to drawing on paper therefore it made it easier to draw it more realistically. Our logo is in black and white because this links to the very first thriller films for example the first thriller film, by Alfred Hitchcock was in black and white. The logo also links to media and filming which was the main aspect of our task.

We chose our production name to be 'S.L.A.M Productions' mainly because it's the first letter of all of our names. However, another reason is because the noise of something slamming can be associated with the thriller genre, as it can be head in many thriller films. For example there's quite a lot of slamming noises heard in the film 'Final Destination'. In addition, this noise can be used to make the audience jump and bring up tension, because it can be quite a sharp and loud noise plus, it can portray the idea of something bad happening, or evil coming their way.
